Root Canal Symptoms & Treatment
Also known as endodontic treatment, a root canal is a dental procedure that removes infected, inflamed or necrotic pulp and nerve from inside a tooth and replaces it with a rubber-like inert material called gutta-percha. A root canal can help you avoid the unnecessary loss of a tooth.
Signs that you might need root canal therapy include severe tooth pain, especially when chewing; sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures; discolouration of the affected tooth; and/or swelling and tenderness or a recurring pimple-like growth on the gums. In some cases no symptoms are present.
The success rate for root canal treatment is more than 95% and the repaired tooth could last for the rest of your life. For more information about root canal treatment, or to schedule an appointment with Dr. Reem Abu Thiab, please contact our office.
